WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) – Serial killer Todd Kohlhepp pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder, the kidnapping of Kayla Brown, and all other charges he was facing in just after 10 a.m. Friday morning during a hearing in Spartanburg County.
The hearing began with the judge reading the indictments against Kohlhepp. The judge then asked Kohlhepp if he understood the consequences if he was convicted and Kohlhepp said that he did. The judge reviewed the penalties for the crimes, told Kohlhepp he had the right to remain silent and then asked Kohlhepp if he wished to eave that right and plead guilty or not guilty. Kohlhepp replied “guilty.”
After reviewing the plea arrangement, Kohlhepp agreed to serve seven consecutive life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole. The solicitor’s office agreed to no longer seek the death penalty after the guilty plea was entered.
Kohlhepp also gave up his right to appeal the conviction.
