Sex offender recently released from prison is charged with rape, murder of Ohio State student

“Today my dad emailed me diploma frames and told me to pick one out and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up,” the Ohio State University student tweeted on Feb. 5.

That was her last tweet.

Her body was found four days later near a park about 10 miles outside of the university in Columbus, Ohio. Police said she had been shot.

Tokes, a 21-year-old psychology major, was just three months away from graduating.

Authorities think a convicted sex offender who was recently released from prison is responsible for her death. Brian Golsby, 29, was charged on Saturday with aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery. A rape charge was added shortly after.

Tokes was last seen on Wednesday evening, when she left work at a brewery in the Short North area, a dining and shopping district near Ohio State, according to the Grove City Police Department. She was reported missing the following day. Police found her car, a 1999 Acura, about six miles outside campus on Friday.
