About

Hello and welcome to The Trial Diaries! My name is Jen Wood and I’m a Trial Reporter covering high profile trials across the nation. I’ve always been interested in the criminal justice system and have had a love for going to trials for a long time. I have education in the criminal justice field and love watching the inner workings of how our criminal system works! I’ve sat in on many trials over the years some more high profile than others. I’ve covered Jodi Arias, Richard Chrisman, Marissa DeVault, Steven DeMocker, Bryan Wayne Hulsey and countless others online. I’ve appeared on national news such as HLN, Nancy Grace, Jane Velez-Mitchell and Dr. Drew along with shows for Discovery ID and Snapped. I’ve been a commentator for News Channel 3 and appeared on Fox talking about the biggest trials making headlines. I’ve done national and local radio while also hosting my own show on the internet! I’ve had the privilege to interview big names such as Kirk Nurmi and Juan Martinez, writers, victims and countless others that have been involved with criminal trials. I’m working on many other projects that keep me busy as there’s never a shortage of news to cover.  I love to get my heels inside the courthouse and get to know all the parties involved. I have a heart for the victims, family, and their friends while still maintaining an open mind as to ones innocence or guilt until all the evidence is in.  I’m always out and about to bring all of you the best scoop, best interviews, best coverage and best trials available. So come on this journey with me as we step inside the courtroom and try the case from a spectators point of view. Find me on Twitter @TrialDiariesJ and email me @ TheTrialDiaries@gmail.com

  5. I’m so glad I found your new blog! I was a CourtTV devotee, too. I’ve read true crime since I was a child–and also love Robert Stack & Unsolved Mysteries. My heart goes out to victims–it is mind boggling how far-reaching murder is–it affects so many generations of people. Thanks for reporting on Hulsey! I’ll be checking your Tweets & posts.

Why is wafer trial not being live streamed? I was really looking forward to it. Hope you had a nice vacation Jen!

Well on the first day a juror was shown so I think they used that as an excuse to not stream the trial…thanks!

I love your blogs Jen! I really appreciate your view, objectivity and your honesty. Thank you for all of the blogs and posts on FB from the Jodi Arias trial. That is actually how I found you. I belong to a couple of groups on FB re:Travis Alexander and Jodi Arias. Someone, I don’t remember who, shared your posts and I try to visit you throughout the day now. Thanks again, keep up the amazing work, and looking forward to your posts re: the penalty phase coming up for the Jodi Arias VS State of Arizona. Have a great night!

I wondered what happened to your other site. I am so glad that I found this and that you are streaming the John Goodman retrial. I watched the first trial and wish he would just put on his big boy pants and serve the 16 year sentence (accompanied by that damn juror from the first trial) since he is obviously not going to go for a plea because, after all, it was either the Bentley’s malfunction or a problem with the blood draw. :roll These defense attorneys seem even worse than Roy Black.

Now if only we could get Jodi Arias on death row and soon. I hate, hate, hate that it is not being shown. I so want justice finally for the Alexander family. They have been waiting far, far too long!!!

    What happened to your sidekick?

Welcome back and keep us Canucks updated on the Magnotti trial. 😀

Are the documents on karasoncrime.com available to the public or only members who have paid for a subscription? If it’s the latter, I don’t think you should be tweeting out links like this. Especially not when people are randomly re-posting your tweets.

Jen, let me first say everyday intrial, I fire up twitter go directly to your page and scroll back to beginning of the day and read forward from there. U give me the meat and potatoes with giggle he tee or there like spice. Then when I’m caught up I go to my feed and read the other stuff being said…. after I got the feel from you. Are you a pay service site? If s [, what are the terms and what would a subscription offer me. Are you considering ordering the trial tapes in entireity. I would not be opposed to making a contribution to your company to help defray you costs. Please let me know what is decided. Because, I for one am not interested in a compressed cleaned up version that some network (fox) (hln) (etc) put their own spin on. I look forward to hearing from you
    Sincerely,
    KellyAZgurl

My Trial Diary website will always be free. What I charge for is a show I put on called Trial Talk Live. We offer a chat room while watching live streams, documentaries, live shows, guests and so on. I charge $6.95 month for that service. It’s the only thing I’ve ever charged for and it’s optional and an added bonus for trial coverage. Jarrett and I wanted to buy the trial footage since the only way to get it is to purchase it. The cost to us is close to $2000. We wanted to air it for our subscribers. The total cost would be around $14.00 to view the whole trial plus you get a ton more. I’ve have worked on a solution for months to be able to bring this to people but I’m not in the position to buy it and then air it for free to the public.

    Hey Jen

Is there any chance that Jodi could apply for or get a transfer to a Cali prison to serve out her time to escape the conditions at Perryville ? Thanx in advance.

I receive your daily emails and work (love them & have to get through the day someway!) but I’m leaving my current job and therefore need to unsubscribe from that email address but would like to continue getting your email updates at my home email address – however when I try to send a request to receive your emails it says there’s been an error and to try back. This has been happening for awhile and won’t go through! I don’t want to unsubscribe from work until I start getting these at home but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Any advice/suggestions about what’s going on and why I can’t subscribe? Thank you in advance!

Interviewing Nurmi then you say Juan the trial is over kind of old news. Most people have moved on. Who really cares anymore? I mean everyone knows why you are obsessed with Juan and the few mindless fanatics who follow you in hopes of seeing Juan. How long do plan on riding that gravy train, and Juan?

I think it’s pretty funny you would use your time to troll my Facebook and then come to my blog to make idiotic statements. You seem very invested in my personal life that you know nothing of. I find that stalkerish and weird. If you don’t care about the Jodi Arias case then why comment 3 times about the people involved in it. Go crawl back into the hole you came out of. Next time try using your real name if you want to start throwing your bullshit all over my blog and quit being a coward. Or I can just figure it out on my own. Bye loser-

    Hi Jen:
So glad you are back! I just got news that I will be getting press credentials for the Robert A. Durst Trial in Los Angeles, CA. I went to two Chase Merritt preliminary trial dates but it is just too far for me to travel. It has taken me ten years of stepping over the sleeping drunks of Los Angeles just to get my seat in the courthouse. I finally got a chance to get a media pass for Wild About Trial and Insider, but Insider is being canceled after September. Oh well. Maybe you can come down for the Durst trial and help me for a few days. I’m a real newbie reporter/blogger. I hope you are doing well.
